The Lone Oak ISD Board of Trustees held a special meeting last night (12/4) to conduct second-round interviews for the district's next Superintendent. After careful deliberation, the board proudly announced Nate Compton, current Deputy Superintendent, as the lone finalist for the position.

Mr. Compton has been a valuable member of the Lone Oak ISD family for many years, serving in various roles, including Assistant Principal, Athletic Director, Principal, and Chief Financial Officer. His deep understanding of the district, its needs, and its community makes him uniquely qualified to lead Lone Oak ISD into the future.

Before making their decision, the Board of Trustees sought input from district personnel by conducting a survey to identify the skills, characteristics, and goals the community wanted in its next Superintendent. Survey results revealed key priorities, including:

• A focus on the student as a whole, not just their educational needs
• Better resources for teachers and staff
• Teacher and staff pay and workload
• Funding
• Budget development
• Continuing the family oriented culture of the district
• Vision for innovation

With these goals in mind, Mr. Compton’s experience and leadership style align perfectly with the district's aspirations for the future. His commitment to fostering student success, empowering teachers, and maintaining fiscal responsibility demonstrates a vision that resonates with the values of Lone Oak ISD.

As required by Texas law, the district will observe a 21-day waiting period before officially finalizing the hire. This time allows the community and board to ensure that the decision reflects the best interests of the district.
