Last week, Mrs. Carter took some of our administrative team on an inspiring tour of the new high school facilities to witness the progress being made during the students’ summer break. It was incredible to see the vision for these spaces coming to life! Among other additions, the bond project will provide the three new labs, four new classrooms, life skills classroom, CTE rooms, band hall, gym and ISS room, enabling the movement of high school students out of the Admin Building, which is currently being renovated to accommodate the growth of our middle school. From classrooms and the cafeteria to the gym, band hall, weight room, and front office, there's a lot happening to enhance the education and experiences for all our students, staff, and community.
Below are some of the highlights for the major projects within the expansion:
NEW BAND HALL
One of the highlights is the new band hall, designed with ample space for all participating students and their instruments, along with additional restrooms and easy access to the football field and gym for games and events.
NEW CONCESSION STAND
The new concession stand serves a dual purpose for volleyball/basketball and football, featuring a shared kitchen, storage space and restrooms. Fans won’t miss a thing when making a trip to the concession stand from the gym - the windows spanning a large part of the north wall of the gym will allow fans to see the game from the concession stand!
NEW GYM
The gym itself will provide plenty of room for games, events, and ceremonies, along with plenty of storage and even a classroom space. One of the major benefits this additional gym will provide is flexibility in class schedules that will allow us to offer more advanced classes and CTE programs at the high school, as students will not have competing class time with the Middle School for gym usage.
NEW CAFETERIA
Our high school students and staff will enjoy a new cafeteria and commons area. This new space allows us to be able to meet the needs of our growing enrollment at each campus and add significant improvements to our students’ lunch experience. Not only will we be able to feed more students quickly and efficiently with this new cafeteria, but we will have the space necessary to accommodate additional growth.
NEW HEALTH AND SCIENCE LABS
We are especially excited about the new science labs and the new CTE Health Science room. The two additional science labs will provide high quality learning experiences for all students enhanced by the equipment to support the new learning standards.
The CTE Health Science room will provide students with rich learning by providing hands-on training experiences in areas for patient bays and physical training areas. This one classroom is designed to have a lasting impact on the training students will receive in their CTE programs for years to come.
NEW ATHLETIC PERFORMANCE CENTER
You can’t miss the new Athletic Performance Center when passing by the school. This facility will house state-of-the-art equipment serving all 150+ current LOHS student-athletes and all future Buffaloes across 17 sports programs and will provide them with an environment capable of developing their athletic performance, skills, strength and endurance to compete at an elite level.
AG BARN
The ag barn project has recently begun and construction on the classroom spaces will start in January.
Once completed, students will park on the southwest side of the school and enter through the student entrance into the cafeteria corridor, which will lead all the way to the newly remodeled front office area. These changes will significantly enhance our safety and security both inside and outside.
Overall, these updates are set to greatly improve the day-to-day activities and experiences for everyone in our Lone Oak ISD community. We are thrilled with the progress and look forward to the positive impact these enhancements will have on our students and staff.
Thank you to our community members for your continued support as we work towards making our vision a reality!
