As the first day of school approaches, now is a great time to make sure your child has everything needed for a smooth start to the school year. If your student is entering one of the grade levels that requires updated immunizations or has medical needs that require attention during the school day, please review the information below.

Immunization Requirements

Current immunization records must be uploaded in the Ascender ParentPortal for:

• All Pre-K students
• All newly enrolling Kindergarten students
• All incoming 7th grade students

These students must have all required immunizations on file before they may attend school.

Students may not attend school without one of the following:

• Proof of all required immunizations
• A signed and notarized immunization exemption affidavit
• A medical exemption signed by the student's healthcare provider (when applicable)

Students with Medical Needs

If your child has a medical condition or requires medication or medical care during the school day, please provide the following before school begins:

• A current Action Plan or Care Plan for the new school year
• Documentation from your child's healthcare provider for any medical condition requiring school support
• Prescription medications that must be administered during school hours (must be in the original, unopened container and brought to the school by a parent or guardian along with all required authorization forms)

Need to Update Your Child's Immunizations?

The Hunt County Health Department is offering several walk-in immunization clinics throughout August for students entering kindergarten, 7th grade, dual credit, college, or who are new to Texas schools. This is one convenient option for families who still need to meet the state's immunization requirements before school begins.

Who Can Be Seen?

• Students with Medicaid
• Students without insurance
• Students entering 7th grade, dual credit, or college who have private insurance

Before You Go

Bring:

• A printed immunization record
• Insurance card (if applicable), cash, or credit card
• Guardianship documents, if applicable

A parent or legal guardian must be present.

August 7  |   8:30–11:00 a.m.

August 17–20   |   8:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m.

The clinic is closed daily from 12:00 - 1:00 p.m. for lunch and serves patients until daily capacity is reached.
