Lone Oak Middle School Re-Designated as a Texas School to Watch

Lone Oak ISD is proud to announce that Lone Oak Middle School has earned both state and national recognition as a Texas School to Watch, marking a significant achievement and reaffirming the campus as a model of excellence in middle-level education.

Awarded by the National Forum to Accelerate Middle-Grades Reform and the Texas Association of Secondary School Principals (TASSP), this honor is reserved for schools that demonstrate strength across four key areas:

  • Academic excellence
  • Developmental responsiveness
  • Social equity
  • Strong organization and leadership

After a rigorous application process and an in-person evaluation, the Schools to Watch site team highlighted several standout strengths at LOMS:

  • A culture of high expectations led by strong instructional leadership
  • A warm and supportive environment where students feel safe and valued
  • Meaningful academic goal-setting and data-driven instruction
  • Teachers who collaborate, mentor one another, and build strong relationships with students
  •  Engaging student opportunities through athletics, fine arts, clubs, UIL, and more
  • Targeted support for all learners — ensuring every student thrives

LOMS Principal, Mrs. Ragsdale, shared her pride in the designation:

"I am excited to share that our campus has been selected as a Redesignated School to Watch campus in Texas! This recognition is a reflection of the incredible dedication, consistency, and hard work each staff member puts in every single day.  Congratulations to my staff; their efforts truly do not go unnoticed, and I am extremely proud of our team.  We will keep pushing forward and celebrating this success together!"

More Than an Award — A Commitment to Growth

Schools to Watch recognition isn’t a one-time achievement. Campuses must continue demonstrating growth in identified areas to remain a School to Watch every three years — a challenge LOMS has embraced with passion and purpose.

Honored on the State and National Stage

Lone Oak Middle School will be recognized publicly:

  • Austin, Texas — March 1–3, 2026
  • Washington, D.C. — June 25–27, 2026

As one of roughly 70 middle schools in Texas holding this designation, LOMS proudly represents Lone Oak ISD among the best in the nation.

A Well-Deserved Celebration

This recognition reflects:

  • Our hard-working students
  • Our loving and dedicated teachers
  • Strong leadership
  • A supportive district and community

We are proud of the excellence happening every day at Lone Oak Middle School — and we can’t wait to see what they accomplish next.
